With its chilled-out charm and relaxed vacation vibe, whether you’re travelling the East Coast or heading for a holiday Byron Bay sure shouldn’t be missed.
Wander the streets of Byron, or spend a day at it’s beautifully iconic beach and you’re sure to fall in love with the gem. The stereotype of Byron couldn’t be more accurate – with it’s hippie, laid-back, creative vibe – you can’t help but ease into the relaxed nature of the place.
We arrived at Byron just after 6am, a little bleary-eyed but surprisingly refreshed after a night on a coach. After a FaceTime call to family back home and waiting impatiently for a response from our Airbnb hosts, we headed to our accommodation to store our luggage in their garage before checking in 8 hours later at 3pm.
Our first day was spent enjoying the incredibly welcomed Winter sunshine on Byron Beach, swimming in the turquoise ocean, becoming immersed in our books and wandering the length of the beach — no complaints from me!
Our days were spent sipping tea and enjoying breakfast on our balcony as birds sang and the day began; eating acai bowls whilst enjoying the beauty of Byron’s sunsets on the beach; kayaking at sea whilst watching dolphins surf waves only metres from us, and squealing with excitement as they swam below our kayak.
Listening to the acoustic songs a busker was playing beside the beach which unintentionally became the soundtrack to our day; lazing on the beach and lolling about in the sweet sunshine; enjoying the beautiful views whilst everything was cast in that pre-sunset glow whilst heading to the lighthouse and falling in love with this beautifully serene yet lively treasure.
